Wet Collectors (Pollution Unit) For Drum Mix Plants
With the thermodrum mix process two types of emmisions may be encountered. particulates and "Blue Smoke".

The most efficient method of collecting sufficient quantities of these particulate emissions, for cleaner exhaust air is the wet type collector. These wet type collectors work on the principle of wetting the dust particules entrained in the exhaust gas stream and trapping them in water droplets which full out of the exhaust gas and are drained from the system in the form of waters sluge.

As a safety measure, always enclose or cover setting tank with wire fencing as water temprature during operation is approximately 150°F
The Setting pond shown is divided into three section by weires. The Sludge from the separator enters section (A) Where much of the sludge settles out before flowing over into section (B) By the water enters section (C) It is amply clarified for rearculation.

Operating Principles Of The Venture Type Wet Collectors
The dust laden exhaust gas is drawn from the drum mixer and into the venturi by the exhaust fan. At the Venturi thoat. the exhaust gas passes thriugh a water spray introduced by a multiple nozzle spray bar. Dust particles in the exhaust gas stream are "Surrounded" by the water spray and wetted

The extreme turbulence in the venturi promotes close, intimate, contact of water and dust particles to assure through mixing. As the exhaust gas enters the separator, the dust laden water is removed by centrifugal action a perforated skimmer plate. The dust ladon water is them drained out at the seperator, in the form of a watery sludge, into a setting pond.

Large Non - Clogging Nozzles
Large spray nozzles provide clog-free operation and assure minimum water maze up reauirements for venture type collectores. Wide opening nozzles water to be reciralated without a lengthy clarification period. Deflector in nozzle difect water stream into a full cone spray pattern for make wetting of dust particles.

Efficent Weeting Action
High pressure in the exhaust gas stream assures more efficent operation of the venturi type collectores with less maintanance. The exhaust gas stream more than doubles its rate of speed as it is forced through the venturi and this rapid aceleration creates extreme turbulance in the exhaust gas stream, causing a highly effective and efficent mixing action between the dust particles and the spray water the completely assembled venturi has an adjustable throat powered by a liner actuator which is controlled from the operator's cousole. This erraits "Fine tuning" to get the optimum cleaning efficiecy for the plant operating conditions.

Setting Pond For Sludge Drainage
A Setting pond will have to be constructed of sufficient size and water capacity depending on the model wet collector being used with the thermo drum. The setting pond would have a volume approximately equivalent to the amount of water passing through the wet collector in one hour. The setting pond shown is divided into three section by weirs. The sludge from the separator enters section A; where much of the particulates settle out before flowing over into the next section B; By the time the water enters section C; It is amply clarified for recirculations.
